Covid-19

“The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Brothers and Sisters,

In a letter to the churches of Eastern Oklahoma Presbytery, our General Presbyter wrote,

We are a connectional church. We are one body united in Jesus Christ from east and west and north and south. The outward sign of that inward unity is the church gathering for worship on Sunday morning and throughout the week for study and service. Our congregating together is such a strong instinct for us, particularly as Presbyterians, that it is second nature to our lives of faith. And yet, as we face a global pandemic that bond threatens our health and our very life.”

After prayer and discussion the Session of Presbyterian Church of Muskogee has canceled all activities in the church building including worship for the next two weeks. We do not come to this decision easily, but out of an abundance of caution. The Session will reevaluate this decision on Monday, March 30 and communicate our decision at that time. The Deacons will be calling each of our members to check in and assess any needs you may have (groceries, prescriptions, etc.).

In an effort to provide spiritual support, you will be receiving worship materials to use at home, including prayers and sermon. If you are technologically savvy, the materials will be available through Facebook (Presbyterian Church of Muskogee), the church website (pcmuskogee.com), email, and U.S. mail.

Please be safe in your decisions to venture out. Wash your hands often. Practice the recommendations of the CDC. My prayers are with you all and with the world as we work to quell this storm.

Grace to you and peace,

Rev. Jeff Cranton
